The Monday Playlist: Conan Gray, Gavin DeGraw, Aleyna Tiki and more!
Hello and welcome to your delayed-by-the-bank-holiday-and-me-having-deadlines-and-enjoying-the-weather-too-much roundup of the latest and greatest songs to grace the soundwaves of this world.
A lowly nine new songs feature on the playlist this week, and some only by the skin of their teeth let me tell you - however I shan’t name names because there are some truly fantastic tracks in the roundup too. Re: last week, I have been fully obsessed with Quiet by Camilla Cabello which, if it weren’t for the 10/10 that is As It Was by Harry Styles, would be easily my biggest song this month so far.
Hope you find something you like in this week’s list - happy listening!

Take It Or Leave It by Aleyna Tiki - as someone who is basically never not looking for a new upbeat pop banger to obsess over, instant bops such as Take It Or Leave It are always welcome; you've just found your next go-to feel good song courtesy of Aleyna Tiki
Versions of Me by Anitta - Latino pop star Anitra has a string of bangers (Girl from Rio, Boys Don’t Cry) and she's just released her first full length English language record: an excellent pop album on which Versions of Me is an immediate standout
Memories by Conan Gray - Conan Gray is a star and he is absolutely shining on the chorus of this song, like we *knew* producer Dan Nigro has a magical pop sensibility, but this? Above and beyond any expectations; absolutely stunning
Apartment Complex on the Eastside by Dylan Fraser - Dylan Fraser delivered one of 2021’s best songs with indie-rock rush Nightmare, the formula for which is evident on his equally promising new single; the kind of song made for indie teen romance movies
Lightning In A Bottle by Fly By Midnight - the bridge section and the vocal harmonies on this are absolutely perfect
Face The River by Gavin DeGraw - very ironic or self aware of my favourite blue eyed soul singer to open his first song in six years with 'i am tired of the waiting’, truly forgot how much I loved this man until he delivered this vocal masterpiece just for me
About Damn Time by Lizzo - thoroughly enjoyed the record that pushed Lizzo into the top tier; I don't think this song is quite there with it but it's fun and I'm sure there will be some huge bangers on her recently announced record
Nice by Matilda Mann - the way this bounces through it's gentle little verses then is turned on its head into the chorus with the perfect ‘I don't want predictable I swear I've done it all before' makes this a truly inspired piece of pop
dose by Teddy Swims - this is a cute little soul-pop song, Swims sounds great on it, particularly when he hits that falsetto - it's as simple as that really!!
