The Monday Playlist: Camilla Cabello, David Guetta, Dylan and more!
15 new songs to improve your week
Hello and welcome to your Monday service! I cannot believe it is only ten days since As It Was by Harry Styles came out and changed all of our lives, can you? Had to force myself to listen to all this new music this week when I was just sitting there waiting until I could hear the sweet sound of ‘Come on, Harry, we wanna say goodnight to you’.
It was quite a good week for new music all things considered, some big bangers in there, a couple of albums of note from Camila Cabello and Lizzie McApline which both get a look in here, and the usual collection of pop nonsense that is all the same but also different.
Happy listening - I hope you find something you like!

Blindside by Alice Merton - this is the perfect early-summer vibe that you need as things begin to thaw, and is also a sign that you should join me in seeing Merton on her tour this October
sun and moonby anees - this is the kind of song I usually find very annoying but today it hit just right, straight up good vibe RnB, anees voice is so good
Come Around Again by Armin van Buuren, Billlen Ted + JC Stewart - JC Stewart has, in my opinion, the perfect EDM voice: youthul, powerful, and convincing - long may he continue lending himself to this breed of banger
High Water by Bishop Briggs - the best thing about Bishop Briggs (not the Scottish town) is when she's goes from her gentle little choruses then bursts through the ceiling on those choruses as she does on High Water; her voice is as massive as her talent
Quiet by Camilla Cabello - I am deeply annoyed at how unpalatable the verse is because that chorus is literal ear honey and I can’t stop pouring it down my mine
Audrey by carolesdaughter - Thea Taylor has such a wonderful, wistful indie-pop vocal, that perfect level of angst; the line ‘screaming lyrics to a song by mychem’ is really speaking to me on this one
Treat Me by Chlöe - this song is s l i c k, the vocals are pristine, when Chlöe opens the second verse with the word 'exceptional' it's impossible not to agree
nice pup by chloe moriondo - I can’t tell if this is just a surrel extended metaphor or some straight up puppy-kink manifesting as an acoustic-pop daydream
Crazy What Love Can Do by David Guetta, Becky Hill + Ella Henderson - my thoughts on this:
Henderson and Hill on one song? Inspired
I think I’m losing my mind
Summer banger of the year 2022
This year's Head and Heart
Don’t fucking talk to me I am in heaven
Live Without It by Dylan - Dylan is right in that perfect pop space where her music demands enormous audiences; it is so carefully crafted, always has a perfect rise to it and just completely soars. This from her excellent No Romeo EP is a standout - the delicateness to the vocal just before the bridge is everything.
HEARTFIRST by Kelsea Ballerini - is this early career Taylor Swift?
All 4 Nothing (I’m So In Love) by Lauv - sadboy Lauv is back on his bullshit with yet another annoyingly catchy bit of breakup pop, catch yourself crying to this in the near future
orange show speedway by Lizzie McAlpine - McAlpine has had a strong run of singles this year (particularly reckless driving which has me in a chokehold) and she finally released her second album. There’s a lot to like on it, but just be warned: she’s very -in her feelings-. orange show speedway is the album closer and it is a perfect conclusion to this run of music
I Blame The World by Sasha Alex Sloan - between this and WTF, Sloan has a lot of need with being thrust onto this planet and being forced to exist; this is a low-key little pop song with a great melody
Clarity by Vance Joy - the curly-headed Aussie is back with the third single from his upcoming record In Our Sweet Time and it’s a perfectly catchy, good vibes summer tune
